Reference is made to the Movement Control Order (“MCO”) which is being enforced throughout Malaysia by the Malaysian Government pursuant to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967, effective from 18 March 2020 to 12 May 2020 (or such time further extended by the Malaysian Government).
The Board wishes to announce that Jaring Metal Industries Sdn. Bhd. (“JMI”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company had received the approval letter from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (“MITI”) dated 19 April 2020 (“Approval Letter”), to operate during the MCO period subject to the terms and conditions as follows:-
1) JMI is required to reduce the number of workers to a minimal level or at most 50% of the current or registered number of workers, for its production during the MCO period. JMI must establish a system to work from home for its employees who are not involved in critical activities
2) JMI must adhere to all general standard operating procedures (“SOP”) as set out in the application portal of MITI ; and
3) JMI must adhere to the SOP as set out in the application portal of MITI for the sector that JMI had applied for.
JMI has also set up a Temporary MCO Committee to oversee the implementation of preventive procedures against the spread of Covid-19 pandemic at workplace. The said Committee would also be responsible for the reporting of compliance status on items (2) and (3) as stated above, to MITI and Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
Upon receipt of the Approval Letter, JMI has resumed its operations on 22 April 2020 and the terms and conditions as set out by MITI in the Approval Letter have been duly complied with.
